Although it’s been a difficult season for the teams in the Atlantic Collegiate Hockey Association (ACHA), they are set to finish on a positive note with four games scheduled this weekend as part of the 2022 ACHA Championship.

The Holland Hurricanes will host the Cape Breton University (CBU) Capers and Acadia University Axewomen for games on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday in Montague at the Cavendish Farms Wellness Centre.

The ACHA was able to complete just six games in total this season due to provincial Covid-19 health restrictions, with each team completing four. The Axewomen enter the game as the number one seed at 3-1-0, while the ‘Canes are second at 2-2-0, and the Capers are third at 1-3-0.

The action begins on Friday at 8pm, when the Hurricanes take on the Axewomen in the first game of the round-robin.  Play continues Saturday as Acadia challenges the Capers at 2pm, with the Hurricanes and Capers closing out the round robin on Saturday at 8pm.

The top-two teams from the round robin will face off in the ACHA Championship game on Sunday at 11am.

The ‘Canes split games with the Capers on the road to start the season in November, winning 5-2 and falling 3-2.  They also split games with Acadia in December in Charlottetown, falling 2-0 before rebounding for the 3-2 win.

Top scorer for the Hurricanes is Maddy Clapham (Oakville, ON), with five points while Elizabeth Lirette (Amherst, NS), Allie Christensen (New Denmark, NB) and Hannah DesRoches (Alberton, PEI) each have three.

Emma Arsenault (Searletown, PEI) and Avery Bradley (Stratford, PEI) have split the duties in goal so far this season, each with a 1-1-0 record.
