There will be plenty of opportunities to catch the Holland Hurricanes in action this weekend with seven games scheduled on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday.
In Atlantic Collegiate Athletic Association (ACAA) regular season play, the basketball ‘Canes will be in Moncton on Friday night for back-to-back games versus the Crandall University Chargers. The men’s volleyball Hurricanes will complete games two and three of their three straight versus the University of New Brunswick Saint John (UNBSJ) Seawolves at home in Charlottetown, with the women’s volleyball ‘Canes meeting the Seawolves on Sunday afternoon.
In Atlantic Collegiate Hockey Association (ACHA) play, the Hurricanes will open their regular season versus the Acadia University Axewomen in back-to-back days of home games on Saturday and Sunday.
Women’s Basketball
The Hurricanes are in Moncton, New Brunswick on Friday evening to take on the Crandall Chargers at 6pm. The Hurricanes enter the game in first in the ACAA standings with a 5-1 record while Crandall sits fifth at 1-3. The only other time these teams have met so far this season was on November 12 when the Hurricanes won 82-57 in Charlottetown.
The ‘Canes enter the game on a four-game winning streak, having previously defeated UNBSJ (twice), Crandall and the Mount Allison University Mounties.
Crandall enters having lost their last three versus St. Thomas University (STU), Holland College and Mount Allison.

The ‘Canes will finish up the 2022 portion of their regular season at home on Saturday, December 3 when they host the Mount Saint Vincent University (MSVU) Mystics at the McMillan Centre.

Men’s Basketball
The undefeated men’s basketball Hurricanes are set to play the Crandall Chargers for the second time this season on Friday in Moncton, New Brunswick; tip-off is scheduled for 8pm.
The Hurricanes, 6-0, lead the ACAA standings while Crandall is 2-1 and tied for third. The Hurricanes defeated Crandall in their previous meeting on November 12, 85-79 in Charlottetown.
The ‘Canes enter as the only undefeated team in the ACAA, starting the season off with wins over UNBSJ (twice), Crandall, Mount Allison, MSVU and UKC. The Chargers are coming off a win over STU in their last game after previously losing to Holland College.

Women’s Hockey
The Hurricanes women’s hockey team are finally set to begin their 2022-23 ACHA regular season this weekend with two games scheduled against the Acadia Axewomen. Puck drop on Saturday is at 7:30pm followed by a 3pm game on Sunday; both games take place at the Eastlink Centre in Charlottetown.
“We’re excited to host Acadia for our home opener weekend,” shared Hurricanes head coach, Meagan Ferguson. “We had some tight battles with them last season, and in our championship game. We’re looking forward to another weekend of high-tempo competition on home ice.”
While the Hurricanes are playing their first regular season games of the season, Acadia enters at 2-0 after back-to-back home victories to open the season versus the Cape Breton University (CBU) Capers. They earned the 6-2 win on November 12 and 3-0 victory on November 13 in Wolfville, Nova Scotia.
This is a rematch from the 2022 ACHA Championship game where Acadia was victorious 4-1 to take the title.
The Hurricanes will continue their season next weekend in Cape Breton when they visit CBU on December 3 and 4.

Men’s Volleyball
The Hurricanes are set for a big home weekend of ACAA regular season action with back-to-back matches versus the UNBSJ Seawolves. First serve on Saturday is scheduled for 7pm while the action begins at 2pm on Sunday afternoon; both matches will take place at the McMillan Centre in Charlottetown.
The Hurricanes enter at 2-3 and in third in the standings, while UNBSJ enter at 0-4 and in fourth. The ‘Canes are coming off a four-set victory over UNBSJ on November 19 in Saint John, NB.
These are the final two games for the Hurricanes before the holiday break; they will return to action on January 14 versus STU on the road.

Women’s Volleyball
After dropping two-in-a-row the women’s volleyball Hurricanes are back on track after a four-set victory over the Crandall Chargers last Sunday in Charlottetown. The ‘Canes will look to make it two-in-a-row on Sunday afternoon when they welcome the UNBSJ Seawolves to the McMillan Centre for a 12pm match.
The Hurricanes, 4-2, sit in a tie for third in the ACAA while the Seawolves are 2-4 and in a tie for seventh. This is the first meeting between the two teams this season. The Seawolves are coming off a win in their last match versus the Mount Allison Mounties.
The Hurricanes will host one final match before the holiday break on Sunday, December 4 versus MSVU at the McMillan Centre. The Mystics are currently 5-1 and in first place in the ACAA.
