The Holland Hurricanes men’s and women’s basketball teams are in Halifax, Nova Scotia this weekend for back-to-back days of Atlantic Collegiate Athletic Association (ACAA) regular season action, while the women’s volleyball ‘Canes are in Truro on Saturday for a single match versus the Dalhousie Agricultural Campus (Dal AC) Rams.
Saturday will see the women’s volleyball ‘Canes kick things off with a 2pm match versus the Rams, while the basketball Hurricanes challenge the Mount Saint Vincent University (MSVU) Mystics. The action continues Sunday when the Hurricanes meet the University of King’s College (UKC) Blue Devils; basketball games take place at 2pm (women) and 4pm (men) each day.
The women’s volleyball Hurricanes enter the weekend atop the ACAA standings at 7-0, while the Rams sit at 3-4 and in a tie for fifth place. The top six teams qualify for the conference championship in February, before competing for a spot at the Canadian Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) National Championship in Charlottetown, hosted by the Hurricanes in March.
This is the second time the Hurricanes and Rams have squared off this season. The ‘Canes won the previous meeting on November 21 in Charlottetown in a very entertaining five-set match that threatened the Hurricanes undefeated record.
The ‘Canes next home game takes place on Saturday, December 4 when they host the Université de Sainte-Anne Dragons (1-6) at the McMillan Centre for Community Engagement (MCCE) to complete the first semester portion of their regular season.

Sunday’s opponents, the UKC Blue Devils, currently are 2-3 and in a tie for fourth in the ACAA.

On Sunday the ‘Canes will travel crosstown to face the 3-2 UKC Blue Devils, who sit in fourth in the conference. This is the first time the ‘Canes have met UKC this season.
