Basketball ‘Canes set to challenge Crandall Chargers

The Holland Hurricanes men’s and women’s basketball teams will hit the road for the first time in the 2021-22 Atlantic Collegiate Athletic Association (ACAA) regular season this Saturday when they visit the Crandall University Chargers in Moncton, New Brunswick.

Tip-off is scheduled for 5pm for the women’s game with the men’s game to follow at 7pm.  Both games can be viewed live at www.acaa.tv.

The women’s Hurricanes are seeking their first victory of the season after dropping their season opener at home last Saturday to the Mount Saint Vincent University (MSVU) Mystics, 96-91.  The Chargers enter at 0-2 after dropping two home games to the University of King’s College (UKC) Blue Devils and Mystics.

‘Canes guard, Ashley Plaggenhoef, knows it’s important to get on the board with your first win of the season this weekend.

“We are very confident that if we take care of the basketball and control the boards that we can be successful this weekend,” she shared.

The Hurricanes men are 1-0 after a 102-82 win in their home opener last week versus the Mystics while the Chargers are 2-0 after wins over UKC and MSVU.

“The team and I are looking forward to the game against Crandall on Saturday,” shared Hurricanes guard, Bryce Corless. “We are all very excited to get the game started and measure ourselves against a talented team from Crandall.”

The basketball Hurricanes next home game takes place on Saturday, November 20 versus the St. Thomas University (STU) Tommies at the McMillan Centre for Community Engagement.
