Holland College (HC): What is your best memory of Holland College
Steve Barber (SB): The friends that I made during my two years at the school, many of whom I continue to keep in contact with. I always say my Holland College years were the best years of my life and those who were in the school with me at the time can attest to that!
HC: What is one of your career highlights?
SB: Throughout my career I was able to use knowledge that my instructors Erroll Affleck, Jim Coll and Christine Clements instilled in me during my two years in Hotel and Restaurant Management. Successfully opening and operating four very high-volume restaurants and night spots provided continuous milestones and times to reflect. I was able to come full circle in 2020 and 20 years after leaving the college I was able to come full circle and take on the position of sessional instructor in the same actual classroom I was taught in.
HC: What advice would you give to new alumni?
SB: To keep in touch with the goings on at the college. Whether it be sporting events or classroom activities, the benefits of staying in contact are never ending when you can help out!
