This training prepares participants for production-level work in a food processing and packaging manufacturing facility on Prince Edward Island.

Successful completion of the microcredential will require participants to:

• Demonstrate problem-solving abilities within a workplace environment
• Contribute to a positive work environment through conflict resolution
• Communicate effectively and ask appropriate questions in workplace situations
• Develop good documentation practices and understand the importance of proper documentation. 

Participants will train with equipment commonly found in food manufacturing environments and develop the ability to use, maintain and troubleshoot issues within a manufacturing environment.

Each participant will have the opportunity to take part in a 3-week full-time work-integrated learning placement at a local food manufacturing facility. 

During this placement, participants will learn how to operate and maintain equipment and gain experience working in a production-level position.

All participants must have access to transportation to attend a 3-week work placement with a participating employer and be available to work shifts (evenings/nights/weekends) for the duration of this program.

• Be able to work independently and safely
• Be physically able to stand/walk with some bending, twisting, and lifting
• Be able to perform repetitive tasks for extended periods of time
• Additional eligibility criteria may be required from our participating on-the-job placement employers.

To eliminate some of the challenges associated with participating in this program, participants may be eligible for dependent care and travel subsidies.

A learning stipend funded by the Canada-PEI Labour Market Agreement is also available for eligible participants.
