DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The Atlantic Police Academy (APA) is seeking a highly skilled, customer service-oriented individual for the position of Administrative Support. Responsibilities include the following:

  • Provide administrative support for all Core Programs and DFO (Department of Fisheries & Oceans).
  • Respond to general inquiries and act as a contact person for the department when dealing with students, staff, faculty, and other external stakeholders.
  • Prepare and coordinate travel itineraries, arrangements, and claims.
  • Assist in arranging and preparing for advisory committee meetings (prepare agenda, schedule, travel arrangements, compile information).
  • Record, transcribe and distribute meeting minutes for department and advisory committee meetings. 
  • Maintain student files for all programs ensuring detailed ISO documentation/records are complete.
  • Assist the Quartermaster in the Kit Shop. Prepare bank deposits on a bi-weekly basis, prepare paperwork, and occasionally operate cash/debit for sales.
  • Monitor, order, and maintain office supplies and equipment.
  • Prepare OJT packages with necessary correspondence and manuals.
  • Assist in the preparation of training manuals, acceptance letters, and orientation kits, ensuring compliance with ISO documentation standards.
  • Assist with the preparation and coordination of graduation ceremonies.
  • Perform other duties as may be required.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Post-secondary diploma in business or office administration with a minimum of two years of recent related experience. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
  • Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficient computer skills using a variety of software applications including Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook.
  • Proven ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Exceptional organizational and multi-tasking skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to maintain confidential and sensitive information.
  • A strong commitment to excellence in customer service.

Salary:

$24.673 to $27.66/hr
