Quartermaster

Continuing full-time position commencing ASAP

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Holland College is seeking a dedicated and organized Quartermaster to support the operations of the Atlantic Police Academy (APA) in Slemon Park, Summerside, PE. This position is responsible for managing the Kit Shop, overseeing inventory and equipment, and supporting vehicle, facility, and firearms-related operations. The Quartermaster plays a key role in ensuring staff and cadets have the gear and resources needed for successful training.

  • Manage the APA Kit Shop, overseeing inventory, operations, sales, deposits, pricing, merchandising, and overall customer service.
  • Purchase, track, and replenish inventory for clothing, duty gear, uniforms, textbooks, office supplies, and general equipment for APA programs and staff.
  • Coordinate uniform sizing, ordering, distribution, and return processes for cadets and staff, ensuring proper inventory and condition of all duty gear and badges.
  • Oversee customer service, cash/debit sales, invoicing, online orders, and the handling of customer concerns.
  • Maintain and inspect firearms-related inventory; ensure compliance with safety standards and licensing requirements.
  • Track and manage APA vehicles, including registration, licensing, repair, and maintenance, control key distribution and gas card usage.
  • Building operations, including issuing and programming access codes and keys for the APA and Holland House Barracks, and managing the alarm and video surveillance systems.
  • Handle all shipping and receiving for APA; research new product lines, obtain quotes, and coordinate purchases.
  • Support APA training and operations by maintaining personal protective equipment inventory and overseeing gym equipment supply and maintenance.
  • Other duties as required.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Grade 12 diploma or equivalent, with relevant experience in retail/ warehouse operations, and inventory control environments.
  • Strong leadership, organizational, communication (oral and written), and decision-making skills.
  • Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong attention to detail is required.
  • Proficient in computer applications including Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel) and point-of-sale systems.
  • Ability to work independently under minimal supervision yet be able to work as part of a team.
  • Experience in the following areas would be an asset: security management, firearms safety, fire safety training, First Aid/CPR and/or WHIMIS.
  • Previous experience working in a policing environment would be considered an asset.

Employment requirements

  • Proof of credentials or equivalencies from accredited regional or federal post-secondary institutions and/or their foreign equivalents will be required at the time of job offer.
  • Willing to obtain the Canadian Firearms Safety Course for nonrestricted and restricted  firearms.

Salary:

$26.76 to $30.00 per hour; 37.5 hrs/wk
