Learning Manager/OJT Coordinator - Business Administration

Term Position: December 9, 2024 - May 9, 2025

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Reporting to the Program Manager of Business & Sport, the successful applicant will create a positive teaching and learning environment as well as take the lead role in coordinating, managing, monitoring, supporting and evaluating student On-the- Job Training (OJT) experiences.  The ideal candidates will:

  • Develop and support a network of community and industry partners to engage with students in work integrated learning, providing resources, and assisting students by coaching, guiding, and finding best-fit placements.
  • Maintain regular contact with employer/partners to provide support and assist in navigating any challenges.
  • Liaise with external stakeholders to gather and disseminate relevant labor market information.
  • Assist learners in the achievement of required curriculum outcomes through such activities as individual and group instruction, self-directed learning, and performance assessments.
  • Deliver excellence in learning-centered instruction by establishing a classroom environment conducive to learning and student involvement as well as effectively planning and preparing for classes and student success.
  • Promote student success by showing flexibility in style and work schedule as well as exhibiting a passion for teaching students and engaging students in the learning process.
  • Monitor and evaluate student performance and provide constructive feedback.
  • Develop, review and update learning materials, using an online based learning management system (SAM).
  • Comply with OH&S regulations.
  • Participate in program development and planning activities.
  • Perform other learning manager related duties as required.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Post-secondary education in Business Administration or Management is required. An equivalent post-secondary training and relevant workplace experience may be considered.
  • A minimum of five years of relevant industry experience, including demonstrated supervisory or management roles, managing projects, or leading organizational initiatives.
  • Proven experience developing and maintaining relationships with local businesses or corporations for student placements, including demonstrated success in growing professional networks to secure diverse OJT opportunities.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of current business trends, development, and employer relations, with specific experience in areas such as marketing, finance, HR, entrepreneurship, business plan development and operations.
  • A strong grasp of the Microsoft Office suite, with focus on Excel skills.
  • Experience assisting students with OJT placements considered an asset.
  • Corporate training, and/or coursework in Adult Education and/or prior teaching experience with adult learners in an educational setting will be considered assets.

$37.25 - $55.08 per hour (35 hours per week)
