Early Childhood Educator - LINC Program

Term Position: ASAP to March 31, 2025, working 30 hours per wek

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Holland College is seeking an Early Childhood Educator for the Centre for Newcomer Children which supports the Language Instruction for Newcomers to Canada (LINC) program funded by Immigration Refugees and Citizenship Canada.  The successful candidate will perform the following responsibilities: 

  • Support and promote each child’s physical development, emotional wellbeing, growth and social development, communications skills, cognitive skill development, ethical understanding, and creativity.
  • Observe and assess children’s skills, abilities, and interests.
  • Be an active participant in children’s day, allowing children to take the lead while supporting in learning and discovery; through activities and experiences that meet the individual development needs of the children and the program philosophy.
  • Provide a supportive and encouraging environment for parents who are learning English onsite.
  • Contribute to daily cleaning and record keeping.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Early childhood Educator level 1,2, or 3 certification is preferred. An equivalent combination of education and experience maybe considered.
  • Strong interpersonal, communication (written and oral) and relationship building skills.
  • Ability to speak an additional language would be considered an asset.

Employment requirements

  • Certification in First Aid/CPR & Food Safety are required.

  • Proof of credentials or equivalencies from accredited regional or federal post-secondary institutions and/or their foreign equivalents will be required at the time of job offer.
