Holland College's School of Performing Arts (SoPA) has partnered with WAVMAKR to present the Creative Music Workshop Series this August at The Guild, offering musicians of all levels the opportunity to work with some of the region's most celebrated artists.
From Aug. 18 to 22nd, attendees will experience insightful talks, performances, lessons and jam sessions hosted by a four-piece faculty band and seven award-winning guest artists.
The workshops will explore the intricacies of songwriting, production, performance, improvisation, led by faculty musicians: Matt Bridges, Paulina Hernandez, Ken Fornetran and Maya Márquez.
PEI Musician of the Year and SoPA alum, Márquez, says she’s looking forward to sharing her experiences as part of the faculty band.
“This workshop is a great way for musicians to build their skills, and I’m so excited to be part of the faculty band for this event,” she says. “Whether you’re auditioning for music school, starting a new project or just trying to level up, I hope you’ll leave with the skills and inspiration to meet your goals”.
The sessions will be rounded out by a group of award-winning guest artists, including: Steve Blodeau (Billa Joints), Joce Reyome, Logan Richard, Luisa Güiza, Adam Hill, Diana Castro and Siddhu Sneh.
All levels, genres and instruments are welcome to attend.
The workshop costs $499 plus tax. Four full scholarships will be awarded based on financial need. Details are included in the online registration form.
