Holland College ranks first in province for reputation

A recent survey by Narrative Research ranks Holland College first out of 25 post-secondary institutions in the region for its reputation and puts the college in a tie for first place with UPEI and Memorial University for its regional familiarity.

The Atlantic Reputation Monitor measures organizations’ reputation and familiarity across the region. The reputation database includes evaluations of 50 organizations from various sectors in Atlantic Canada.

The college earned a reputation rating of 8.1 out of 10, the highest of any organization in its home province and well above the provincial norm of 6.5, putting it in first place among a total of 20 post-secondary institutions across Atlantic Canada.

Familiarity ratings represent the average proportion of residents familiar with the organization out of a possible 100 per cent. Holland College’s Familiarity Rating is 97 per cent, reflecting a two point increase from 2019. As in past surveys, the college is nearly 20 points above the Post-Secondary Familiarity Norm. Familiarity with the institution sits well above the PEI Familiarity Norm of 81 per cent and the Atlantic Canada Post-Secondary Familiarity Norm of 79 per cent.

Holland College President Dr. Alexander (Sandy) MacDonald said the results of the Atlantic Reputation Monitor show that the greater community is much more aware of the college’s programs.

“A few years ago, many Islanders assumed that the college only offered limited programs. Now, businesses and individuals are much more cognizant of the range of high-quality relevant training we provide. The college’s strong standing in the Island community assures our students that they are acquiring the skills and knowledge they need to enter the workforce or to continue their education,” he said.
