Foundation announces new board members

The Holland College Foundation is pleased to welcome Mark Ledwell and Ray Keenan to its board of directors.

Mark Ledwell is the managing partner of Gowling WLG's Toronto office and a member of the firm's management committee. Prior to his current role, Mark served as the managing partner of the firm's London, UK office and leader of the Financial Services Industry Group.

Ledwell has more than 30 years' experience as a lawyer in Canada and the UK in the areas of infrastructure development, agri-food, banking, project and trade finance, and government relations. He has co-led a number of major transportation infrastructure developments in Canada, as well as projects in the oil and gas and renewable energy sectors. He frequently serves as a policy advisor to governments and has extensive international business experience.

Ray Keenan, along with his brother Alvin, own and operate Rollo Bay Holdings Ltd., a large potato growing and packaging operation located in Souris. The company has enjoyed loyal support from major chain and food service customers in Canada and the United States for many years and is one of the largest employers in the Souris area, employing more than 40 people on a year-round basis.

In addition to his commitment to the business, Keenan has served in his community on several boards including as a director of the Souris Hospital Board, chairman of the Business Hall of Fame, a director of the PEI Potato Board, and, most recently, vice chair of the Global Learning objective for UPEI’s Inspire campaign. He is the present chairman of the United Potato Growers of Canada and serves on the Premier’s Council for Growth and Recovery.

Kent Scales, Chair of the Holland College Foundation Board of Directors, noted that the new directors will add tremendous value to the Holland College Foundation.

“The Holland College Foundation supports the strategic initiatives of Holland College and plays a pivotal role in shaping the future of its students,” said Scales. “Both Ray and Mark have a great deal of experience in their areas of expertise, and I look forward to their contributions to our work.”

The appointment of Keenan and Ledwell coincide with the retirement of Holland College Foundation board member and former vice chair Stan MacPherson, who served two terms over six consecutive years. The other members of the board are Jeff Squires (vice chair), Ken Heckbert (secretary/treasurer), Jason Aspin, Adam Balderston, Everett Roche, Alanna Taylor, Peter McLaughlin, Trisha Mossey, Barry Sheen, Dr. Alexander (Sandy) MacDonald, and Executive Director Jo-Ann Campbell-Boutilier (ex-officio).
