Three outstanding Holland College staff members were recognized during Employee Appreciation Day at the Charlottetown Hotel recently.
Employee excellence awards are presented annually. This year, as in the past, there were many worthy nominees for the committee to choose from. The Teaching Excellence Award was presented to Ann MacLeod-Lea, Program Coordinator for the Tourism and Travel Management program. Ann's dedication to ensuring that her students enter the workforce equipped with the knowledge and skills they need to succeed has earned her a reputation as a dedicated and respected Tourism and Travel teacher.
The Staff Excellence Award was presented to Howard Beattie, Project Manager for the college's learning management system, SAM. In the past three years, Howard has hosted more than 200 training sessions, involved 75 percent of the college's faculty in SAM utilization, and integrated an impressive 1,200 courses into the system.
This year, a new award was introduced, the Facilities Excellence Award. The award was presented to Daniel Smith, Night Shift Supervisor at the Tourism and Culinary Centre. Daniel makes a significant impact on the staff and students at the Tourism and Culinary Centre by sharing his enthusiasm and by his professional approach to his work.
