Holland College has selected Paula Foley as manager for its newest centre, the West Prince Campus currently under construction in Alberton.
Jake Baird, Vice President and Chief Learning Officer, for the college said that Ms. Foley, who is a resident of West Prince, was the ideal candidate for the new position.
"Ms. Foley has a proven record of achievement in community, business, social and economic development," he said. "I know that her expertise will serve the college and the community of West Prince well as we expand and strengthen our presence in the region."
A graduate of both Holland College and UPEI, Ms. Foley has worked as a private consultant for the past seven years on rural development projects, writing funding proposals, conducting labour market studies, and recruiting, hiring and managing staff. Prior to that, Ms. Foley was project manager for Northport Development Inc., and was a business development officer for Enterprise PEI for 10 years.
"The creation of a new Holland College Campus provides an exciting opportunity for the residents of Western PEI," Foley said. "I look forward to working with the community to bring the West Prince Campus to a reality."
Area residents will have an opportunity to meet Ms. Foley during an information evening to be held Thursday, September 16 from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. in the Alberton Community Centre, 1 College Street. In addition to meeting Ms. Foley and other representatives of the college, residents will be able to find out more about the programs that will be offered in the area next fall. Refreshments will be served.
