College receives new ISO certification

After a rigorous examination of Holland College’s policies and procedures by an external auditor, the college received its ISO 9001:2008 certification for its quality management system.  This marks 10 successful audits and 10 years of IS0 9001 certification.  Holland College has held this designation longer than any other educational institution in Canada, President Dr. Brian McMillan announced recently.

ISO 9001 is an international standard that specifies requirements for a quality management system that focuses on the effectiveness of the quality management system in meeting customer requirements.

All aspects of Holland College's operations that directly or indirectly relate to education and training are part of the college's quality management system, and therefore subject to evaluation and review, Quality Coordinator Brian Lambert explained.

“The effectiveness of the quality management system is monitored through a process of internal auditing, client feedback and the analysis of that feedback and management review,” he said.  “The ISO 9001 certification indicates to prospective students that Holland College provides a high-quality educational experience.”

Dr. Brian McMillan said the ability of the college to comply with the ISO 9001 standard and the success of the quality management process is due to the staff’s commitment to excellence.

“Holland College staff involved in every aspect of the college’s day-to-day activities, whether as learning managers, maintenance and administrative staff, or in any other part of our college community, are responsible for our success. They are a source of great pride for the college.”
