College hosts open houses

Holland College will host a series of open houses in locations across the province over the next two weeks, welcoming high school students and their parents, individuals considering learning new skills or upgrading current skills, and members of the public.

Previously, all of the centres opened their doors on the same day. By holding the open houses on different days across the province, the college hopes to ensure that prospective students interested in programs located at different centres have the opportunity to visit the centres, meet the instructors, and discuss their plans for the future. The open houses provide a great opportunity to tour the facilities, talk to students and instructors, and to find out what hands-on learning is all about. Staff from the college’s Admissions and Student Services offices and representatives from the Holland Hurricanes sports teams and the Holland College Concert band will also be on hand to answer questions.

In addition to offering one and two year post-secondary programs and post graduate programs, the college also offers English language training and testing, and adult upgrading courses for those who need to obtain their GED or need certain course credits for admission into college or university.

The open houses are taking place in Summerside at the Marine Training Centre on Water Street, and the Atlantic Police Academy, Motive Power Centre, and Aerospace Centre in Slemon Park on Wednesday, November 19th, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. The college’s Georgetown Centre will host its open house on Tuesday, November 25th from noon to 6 p.m.  On Thursday, November 27th, the Charlottetown and Tourism and Culinary Centres will host open houses from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
