Brian McLellan, President of the Association of Certified Engineering Technicians and Technologists of Prince Edward Island (ACETTPEI) and Melanie Blue, Vice President of the Association, were at Holland College recently to present their Technologist Thesis Awards to graduates of the College?s technology programs.

The technical thesis, also referred to as the Applied Research Project, is a mandatory component of all accredited technologist level programs. The College?s Architectural Technology, Computer Engineering Technology and Electronics Engineering Technology programs are all Nationally Accredited by the Canadian Technology Accreditation Board of the Canadian Council of Technicians and Technologists.

"The Technical Thesis Awards presented by ACETTPEI to a graduating Holland College student, who's thesis is judged to be the best within their Engineering or Applied Science Technology program, is very important to our Association," said Brian McLellan. "This award gives us the opportunity to recognize the abilities of students graduating from nationally accredited programs and give them encouragement before they enter their chosen career. On behalf of the Association I would like to say congratulations to this year's winners."

In recognition of the top thesis of the graduating classes, ACETTPEI presents these awards on an annual basis. Receiving the awards this year were:

Architectural Technology - Sacha Lefebvre. Sacha's thesis investigated issues related to ensuring adequate air quality in the design of Tattoo and Aesthetics Salon. Her thesis also provided an in-depth examination of sound control and security systems.

Computer Engineering Technology (CET) - Jacob Gallant. Jacob's project was designing and implementing a Wide Area Network using Cisco Networking devices.

Electronics Engineering Technology (EET) - Russell Acorn. Russell received the award for his project on The Global Positioning System.
