Description
Many not-for-profit organizations are guided by a volunteer board of directors. No matter the reason for volunteering, these passionate individuals possess a vested interest in the well-being and direction of a particular board or volunteer organization. Respecting these desires, in many cases, board members and staff lack familiarity with key topics, policies, and board operational procedures. This challenge creates significant liability for board members, staff, and clients of any not-for-profit organization. The Board Member Training program is designed to bring awareness to many different aspects of being a board member. The program's goal is to help current or future board members gain the knowledge they need in order to be successful not only as individuals but as the entire board. Each participant will receive login credentials for Holland College's Learning Management System (referred to as SAM). It is here where course content will be accessible to all participants 24/7 and participants will be able to study and explore program content asynchronously and on their own time. All participants will meet online throughout the course duration using the online program called Zoom. During these online meetings, participants will engage in discussions on various board member topics and interact with each other and the facilitators.
