After a suitable period of familiarization this barge job requires the engineer/ deckhand to take total control of the deck and marine equipment. The ability to run heavy equipment would be an asset as would a diversified marine background. Seasons are short in the Yukon so we run all day, every day as much as possible. Trips are normally 2 or 3 days so the deckhand will have to prepare simple meals. Separate cabins exist on the barge which most mariners would say are quite comfortable.
Pay will be discussed and will depend on the applicant's knowledge, ability, certificates held and whether of not paid by the hour or day or season.

Desirable qualifications and experience could be things like heavy equipment operation, mechanical aptitude, experience working in the marine industry.
Driver’s license. First aid certificate.
