Job Description

Plans and prepares food based on the core menu manual specifications to ensure consistent quality product for our customers. *Uses scales and measuring devices to ensure consistent product quality and maintain cost control. *Observes proper use of all cooking and preparation equipment so as to not cause harm to themselves or their co-workers. *Perform food preparation when necessary, such as chopping, slicing, dicing, mixing, etc. *Proficiently perform duties on both hot and cold lines as well as duties involving in food preparation *Prepare dishes for guests with food allergies or intolerances. *Prepare and store foods concurrent to Provincial Health and Safety Structures *Maintain inventory and records of food, supplies and equipment. *Work with specialized cooking equipment (deep fryer, etc.) *Maintain a clean kitchen and work areas.

Qualifications

Experience in using different cooking tools, equipment, and utensils *Expert knowledge of various cooking methods and procedures *Strong communication skills, both written and verbal *Understanding of food preparation techniques *Able to withstand long hours of standing, bending, and moving around

Other

Fiddle River restaurant will provide students the unique opportunity to apply the skills learned in the classroom in a real-world kitchen environment. During their internship, students will work alongside other professionals and a supervisor/mentor that will provide supervised support and feedback. For a student, this is valuable work experience that provides opportunities to perfect their culinary techniques, expand their knowledge base, and make valuable industry contacts. We truly hope to welcome culinary intern students to help with the transition into a successful culinary career. *The gratuities to the kitchen employees represent 1% of the food sales, distributed once a month. *The 4% vacation pay will be paid on every pay cheque. *One meal per shift will be provided at no cost. *Our staff accommodation is located at 10minutes walking distance of the work place. It is a house that includes a full well equipped kitchen, living room, 2 bathrooms and 4 bedrooms. The students will get their own private bedroom. The rent is $600/monthly, deducted from their pay cheques. *Chef’s jacket and pants will be provided at no cost.
