SoPA Winter Concert Series

SoPA’s Winter Concert Series features four nights of music provided by the program’s second-year students. Each student creates a 20-minute set that represents their own unique musical journey; the students select the music they want to play and the musicians that will help them bring this music to life on stage. The students run their own rehearsals as they prepare for their performances.

All concerts in the series are free for the public to attend. Cash donations and non-perishable food items will be accepted in support of the Holland College Food Bank for these events.

The first concert features the music of Jesse MacCormac, Michael Waddell, Cedric van Exel, and Colton Steel.

JESSE MACCORMAC
	In this thoughtfully curated set, you’ll hear the songs that inspired drummer Jesse MacCormac. From Fleetwood Mac to Pearl Jam, to Stevie Ray Vaughan, each song was selected due to the importance it has played in Jesse’s life and musical journey and will be performed with an amazing band full of future music legends!
MICHAEL WADDELL
	Bassist Michael Waddell’s features songs by Metallica, Radiohead, System of a Down, and Bôa. Michael and his hand-picked band stacked with local legends like Sam O (NUL1F3, Girls Night, solo projects), Colton Steele (Patience, We Bully Clouds), and Jesse MacCormac (Ice Cream Social, Mind Gaze) will present a set you won’t want to miss!
CEDRIC VAN EXEL
	Vocalist Cedric van Exel has created a powerful set made up of songs from Young the Giant, Arcade Fire, local band Paper lions, and Elton John. Radiating powerful emotions, this set will pull you into the moment and let you forget about the world outside the performance hall. Cedric’s band consists of amazing upcoming musicians from the SoPA program such as Warren Power, Danika Poirier, Dawson Hall, Robin Jackson, and includes feature artists on specific songs.
COLTON STEELE
	Colton Steele's recital will leave you headbanging and singing along to many familiar tunes. Take a trip back to the 70s and 80s with bands such as Iron Maiden, Heart, and Judas Priest.
