Before Graduation Day

Do I need to apply for graduation?

Yes! You must apply to graduate and submit your notice to attend through Webadvisor by March 25 to finalize your credential, transcript and attendance.

I have a financial hold on my account, can I still graduate?

No. Your account must be paid in full before you are permitted to graduate.

How do I know if I am eligible to graduate?

Login to your Webadvisor account and run your program evaluation. This will confirm whether or not you have met all your program’s graduation requirements.

If I do not attend graduation, how do I get my diploma?

Students who earn a credential but do not attend their in-person graduation will have their diplomas mailed to them. Make sure your address is up to date in Webadvisor.

Will I be able to get professional grad photos prior to graduation?

Heckbert's Photography of Summerside is the official photographer for Holland College graduations. If you live in Summerside or West Prince, you can book an appointment to have your portrait taken in the studio in Summerside. Heckbert's will also be at the Tourism and Culinary Centre on March 4, 5, and 7. and at the Prince of Wales Campus March 8, 9, 10, and 11. For more information, including pricing and links to book a sitting, visit this pagePhotographs from the graduation ceremonies are available to download or order here.

How do I get my gown?

Charlottetown ceremonies: you will be asked your gown size when you complete your Application to Graduate. You will receive an email in your Holland College account two weeks prior to your ceremony with pick up times for your gown and stole.

Are there graduation awards or special distinctions?

Yes! Several programs have graduation awards students can apply for. If your program has any, you will receive an email in April from awards@hollandcollege.com with more information.

One student in each graduation ceremony will hold the distinction of being the valedictorian and giving a speech at the graduation ceremony. Staff, faculty, and students can nominate graduating students to be valedictorian, or students may nominate themselves, including two letters of support, one of which must be from a faculty member, with their application. The valedictorian will be selected based on their academic achievement, strong moral compass, and leadership within their program.

Staff, faculty and students can submit nominations here.

Graduating students can nominate themselves here.

The college also presents two students with the Governor General's Award each year. This award is based on academic achievement, students do not apply. There is an award for Charlottetown and east and one for Summerside and west. The award is presented to the graduating student with the highest aggregate in each region.

The President’s Award of Dedication is also presented at graduation. This award is chosen by program managers and learning managers, students do not apply. An award is presented to one student in each program department at the college. The recipient will have shown strong personal achievement, dedication to their program, and a positive contribution to their class and campus.
