All Holland Hurricanes winter clubs under the Atlantic Collegiate Athletic Association (ACAA) and Atlantic Collegiate Hockey Association (ACHA) banners were in action on Valentine’s Day weekend.
Most notably, both volleyball teams finished their regular-season campaigns with a combined three wins across four road games, and the women’s hockey squad returned to the win column.
Here’s what happened on Saturday, Feb. 14, and Sunday, Feb. 15, 2026.
Women’s Volleyball
The women’s volleyball Hurricanes concluded their regular-season efforts with one win and one loss in a road-trip doubleheader against the Dalhousie Rams in Truro, N.S.
The Hurricanes started the two-game series with a 3-2 comeback victory on Saturday, rallying from down 2-0 to steal the match. Holland finished the job with a close 15-13 fifth-set triumph, extending their win streak to four games.
Unfortunately, the streak was snapped on Sunday, as the Hurricanes fell 3-0 in a game controlled throughout by Dalhousie.
Over the weekend, Jenna O’Neill led in kills with 19, Morgan Hoskins topped the dig category with 22, Marissa O’Donnell drove the offense with 59 assists, and Abby Macdonald showcased great versatility with 14 kills and 11 blocks.
The Hurricanes head into the 2026 ACAA Women’s Volleyball Championships – Feb. 27-March 1 in Fredericton, N.B. – as the fourth seed with a 13-7 record across 20 games (26 points) and their most regular-season wins since the 2022-23 season (also 13 wins).
Their quarterfinal opponent will be either Dalhousie (10-9, 20 points) or Mount Saint Vincent (9-9, 18 points), which’ll be determined when those two teams finish their campaigns next weekend. Dalhousie has one game left, while Mount Saint Vincent has two remaining.

Men’s Volleyball
The men’s volleyball Hurricanes swept the Dalhousie Rams in a doubleheader on the road in Truro, N.S., closing the regular season with a three-game win streak and five wins in their last six games.
The Hurricanes scored a straight-set sweep on Saturday, dominating offensively and never allowing Dalhousie to score more than 21 points in a single set.
The Rams fought back on Sunday, forcing the game to five sets after being down 2-0, but the Hurricanes turned things around in the fifth, winning 15-10 to deny Dalhousie a comeback victory.
Standout players over the weekend included Carson Gray (31 kills, 20 digs, 2 blocks), Tyler McBride (46 assists, 17 digs, one ace, one block), Manuel Molina Lovett (12 kills, 18 digs), Brett Macausland (13 kills, four blocks), Keiran Hamlin (12 kills, nine digs, five blocks), and Joseph Horne (31 digs). Gabriel Lee performed strongly on Sunday, recording six kills and two digs after playing in just one set on Saturday.
Holland enters the 2026 ACAA Men’s Volleyball Championships in Fredericton, N.B., as the third seed with an 11-9 record, hanging on by two points over UNBSJ.
The Hurricanes will face the second-place USTA Dragons (14-6) in semifinal action on Saturday, Feb. 28.

Women’s Basketball
The women’s basketball Hurricanes dropped both games of a road-trip doubleheader against the conference-leading St. Thomas Tommies in Fredericton, N.B.
The Tommies jumped out to a better start on Saturday, leading 23-12 after one quarter. Holland came out stronger in the second quarter, eventually tying the game 28-28 near halftime. Unfortunately, a late-quarter surge by St. Thomas helped them take control of the remainder of the match, ultimately taking it 81-50.
Sunday featured a back-and-forth game, where St. Thomas went on numerous surges, but Holland consistently kept them at bay with their own big runs. The Hurricanes were down 37-27 at halftime. The rest of the way, they never let the Tommies have a lead bigger than 14, but couldn’t find the momentum they needed to swing the game in their favour. Final score, 60-52 St. Thomas.
Sophie LeClair and Riley Macdonald were Holland’s leaders on Saturday, combining for 25 points, a 10-for-17 field-goal record, a 3-for-5 three-point record, and 11 rebounds.
Karissa George took charge on Sunday with 15 points, six field goals on 12 attempts, two successful free throws on six tries, seven rebounds, two assists, three steals, and three blocks.
The Hurricanes, now 9-7 and still tied for third with Mount Allison, look to snap their five-game skid when they wrap up regular-season action next weekend – Feb. 21-22 – at home against UNBSJ.

Men’s Basketball
The men’s basketball Hurricanes also struggled on the road in Fredericton, N.B., losing both games of a doubleheader against the conference-leading St. Thomas Tommies.
In a similar fashion to what occurred in the women’s games, the Tommies controlled the first match, and the Hurricanes battled harder in the second.
On Saturday, an explosive first quarter by St. Thomas – 31-14 – set the tone for the rest of the match, allowing the Tommies to win 94-63.
On Sunday, the Hurricanes jumped out to a 26-19 lead after one quarter and remained ahead at halftime, 49-46. From there, St. Thomas came flying out of the gates in the second half, outscoring Holland 45-31 en route to a 91-80 game victory.
Jahreal Tomlinson led the Hurricanes on Saturday with 11 points, notching five field goals, seven rebounds, and one block. Zachary Dawkins and Spencer Rossiter combined for 50 points, 20 field goals, six three-pointers, four successful free throws, 15 rebounds, eight assists, and four steals on Sunday.
Despite the tough outcomes, Rossiter achieved a significant accomplishment, reaching 500 career ACAA regular-season points.
The men will join the women in ending their regular-season campaign at home against UNBSJ next weekend.

Women’s Hockey
The women’s hockey Hurricanes split their weekend doubleheader against the Cape Breton Capers on Saturday and Sunday at the Eastlink Centre in Charlottetown, P.E.I.
After being down 3-0 heading into the third period on Saturday, Holland attempted a late-game comeback, but ultimately fell short 4-3 in regulation. Cassie Gordon, Josee Allain, and Emmy Parsons scored Holland’s goals. Gordon and team captain Kristyn Taylor each produced two-point performances.
In a back-and-forth thriller on Sunday, the Hurricanes bounced back for a 6-4 win, their second of the regular season. They jumped out to a quick 2-0 lead within the first two minutes of the first period and led 3-1 after one period. CBU closed the gap to one – 3-2 – before the end of the second period. The third period was a roller coaster, with CBU tying the game twice and Holland retaking the lead twice; the second time, the Hurricanes successfully held on for the win.
Taylor (twice), Allain, Abbey Gordon, Darci Reardon, and Gabrielle LeBlanc found the score sheet for Holland. Taylor recorded three points, increasing her weekend total to two goals and three assists.
Goaltender Olivia Lowe started both games, denying 54 of 62 shots and earning her first career ACHA win on Sunday.
The Hurricanes are now 2-6-0 and remain third in the standings, and the Capers move to 5-4-1 but maintain second.
Holland will host the Acadia Axewomen next weekend – Feb. 21-22 – to close out the home portion of their regular-season run.
