AOTW | Kristyn Taylor & Joseph Horne Named Hurricanes Athletes of the Week
By Reegan MacAulay
Women’s hockey player Kristyn Taylor and men’s volleyball player Joseph Horne have been named the Holland Hurricanes Athletes of the Week for Feb. 9 to Feb. 15, 2026.
Taylor, team captain and a third-year left-winger from Travellers Rest, P.E.I., led her team to one victory in a doubleheader against the Cape Breton Capers on Saturday, Feb. 14, and Sunday, Feb. 15, at the Eastlink Centre in Charlottetown, P.E.I.
Taylor scored two goals and three assists over two games and was a key driving force behind the Hurricanes bouncing back from a 4-3 loss on Saturday to win 6-4 on Sunday. She scored just 12 seconds into Sunday’s victory, which was the team’s second of the season and first on home ice.
The women’s hockey Hurricanes conclude the home portion of their regular-season campaign next weekend – Feb. 21-22 – against the league-leading Acadia Axewomen.

Horne totalled 31 digs, with 22 alone in Sunday’s 3-2 win, and logged a 2.4 passer rating. His leadership was pivotal in the team finishing the regular season in third place, on a three-game win streak, and with five wins in the last six games.
The men’s volleyball Hurricanes will challenge the USTA Dragons in the second-vs-third semifinal match at the 2026 ACAA Men’s Volleyball Championships on Saturday, Feb. 28, in Fredericton, N.B.
