AOTW | Marissa O’Donnell & Keiran Hamlin Named Hurricanes Athletes of the Week

Women’s volleyball player Marissa O’Donnell and men’s volleyball player Keiran Hamlin have been named the Holland Hurricanes Athletes of the Week for Feb. 23 to March 1, 2026.

O’Donnell, a second-year setter from Fredericton, N.B., studying Kinesiology, had an excellent weekend competing at the 2026 ACAA Volleyball Championships in her hometown, helping her team achieve one win across two matches.

The Hurricanes swept the Mount Saint Vincent Mystics in quarterfinal action on Friday, Feb. 27, before being eliminated by the top-seeded Mount Allison Mounties in a nail-biting five-set semifinal on Saturday, Feb. 28.

O’Donnell played a key role with 72 assists, directing the offense and setting up her hitters all weekend. She added two aces, a block, four kills, and nine digs, highlighting her all-around impact. Her composure in high-pressure playoff moments underscored her importance to the team’s performance.

Hamlin, a rookie outside hitter from Winnipeg, Manitoba, studying Business Administration, impressed in his postseason debut at the 2026 ACAA Volleyball Championships this past weekend.

The Hurricanes battled the second-seeded Université de Saint-Anne Dragons in semifinal action on Saturday, but were edged out 3-1 to close out their season.

Hamlin stepped up to lead the team on offense with 15 kills, three digs, and three block assists. His performance was particularly notable given that he only transitioned to the position in January.

The men’s volleyball Hurricanes’ 2025-26 campaign is also finished.
