Porter’s strengths include her competitive nature and grit, staying positive on the court and her leadership through always pushing her teammates.
“I’m really happy to add Emma to our roster for next season,” shared Jon MacDonald, head coach of the Hurricanes. “She comes from a great club in Fredericton and will bring some great experience at the setting position to our group.”
“I chose the Kinesiology program because I’ve always been interested in learning about how the body works,” shared Porter.
The ‘Canes will host the 2022 Canadian Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) Women’s Volleyball National Championship next March at the Holland College McMillan Centre for Community Engagement in Charlottetown.
“I feel that being a student-athlete will make my college experience more memorable. My entire life has involved being on a team and working towards a goal. I am excited to be able to do this at the next level. Hopefully we can give the fans something to cheer about next season with a competitive team.”
The Hurricanes women’s volleyball team won the 2020 Atlantic Collegiate Athletic Association (ACAA) championship for the first time in team history. The 2021 season was cancelled due to Covid-19.
