The Holland Hurricanes women’s soccer team have added Macy Chiasson to the roster for the upcoming season. The 5’4” attacking center midfielder from McGee Lake, Nova Scotia will study in the Early Childhood Care and Education program at Holland College.
Chiasson has previously played with Valley United, Horton District High School and Soccer Nova Scotia provincial teams throughout her soccer career to-date.
“I decided to enroll at Holland College because I wanted to be able to study in the Early Childhood Care and Education program, while also having the opportunity to play varsity soccer at the same time,” shared Chiasson. “I have been playing soccer since U4 and am not ready to stop now. Holland College allows me to pursue my dream of working with children, and be a part of a strong soccer team. I’m very excited to be part of the winning tradition at Holland College.”
Chiasson is described as a player that is technically very sound, and someone that plays with heart and a desire to win. Her vision and ability to perform under pressure will be an asset to the Hurricanes this fall.
“Macy's versatility as a player will give us tactical options,” shared Hurricanes head coach, Jonathan Vos. “Her competitive nature and team buy-in are what we are seeking as a program. Her experience at Atlantic and National youth competitions set her up to thrive in our conference.”
The Hurricanes are the reigning Atlantic Collegiate Athletic Association (ACAA) champions, winning the title in 2019, the teams fifth. The 2020 season was cancelled due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
“I will bring a strong work ethic to the team,” shared Chiasson. “Our fans can expect to see me do whatever it takes to help the Hurricanes win another conference championship and compete at Nationals.”
