Cooke Insurance Group 200 preview

The drivers of the Canadian eMotorsport Series will return to the track on Tuesday, June 2 for the second regular season race of 2020, the Cooke Insurance Group 200 at Auto Club Speedway.

The race will be broadcasted live at www.facebook.com/emotorsportsCAN, with the pre-race show beginning at 7:45pm eastern, followed by the race at 8pm.

Jacob Nelson (#9, Chevrolet from Clarksville, Tennessee) enters the race as the points leader after winning the season opening, Holland College 250, last Tuesday at the Daytona International Speedway.

“I’m psyched to have been able to pull off the sweep at Daytona during our opening weekend,” he exclaimed.  “But I’m ready for some restrictor plate-free, side-by-side, racing in California this week.”

Last weeks season opener at Daytona proved to be a struggle for many, as the close-quarters, pack style racing caused many cautions during the 250-mile event.

Here is a look at three drivers that improved, and three drivers that struggled, when comparing their finish at Daytona to their pre-season results.

These drivers performed when it counted last week at Daytona, performing better than during our pre-season races.  Look for these drivers to use this momentum to add a second solid finish when they take the track at Auto Club Speedway.

Mike Marini (#42 Toyota, Thunder Bay, Ontario)

Daytona finish: 2nd

Pre-season average: 20.5

Improved: +18.5 positions

Trent Neilson (#55 Ford, Fort Wayne, Indiana)

Rhon-Paul Lecky (#05 Ford, Montague, PEI)

These drivers struggled to perform on Tuesday at the Holland College 250.  Look for them to regroup and rebound this Tuesday at the Cooke Insurance Group 200 at Auto Club Speedway.
