Bailey wins General Connection 250 at Texas

Scott Bailey (Allendale, Michigan, USA) won the General Connection 250 at Texas Motor Speedway on Tuesday night; it was the second race in the Round-of-8 in the Canadian eMotorsports Network NASCAR Series playoffs.

Qualifying fourth, this win was Bailey’s fourth of the season, previously winning at Sonoma, Talladega, and the Charlotte Roval.  This was the 24th race of the 2020 season.

Completing the top five was Darcy Ford (PEI, Canada) in second, Chad Hyder (Ohio, USA) in third, Corbin MacAulay (PEI, Canada) in fourth and Ryan Gibson (West Virginia, USA) in fifth.

Jose Mercado took home the extra playoff point by winning the first stage, while Bailey was successful in the second stage.

Here are the official results from the General Connection 250 at Texas Motor Speedway.

Bailey joins the winner of last weeks race at Kansas Speedway, Ryan Gibson, as the drivers that have qualified for the series championship race on November 17 at the Phoenix Raceway.  In total, four drivers will compete for the championship in the race, with the highest finisher claiming the title.

Next weeks final race of the round, the Fix Auto 250, takes place at Martinsville Speedway.

Currently, Darcy Ford holds the third position in the standings with Jose Mercado occupying the fourth and final advancing spot.

Corbin MacAulay is currently on the outside looking in, trailing Mercado by 11-points, while Jacob Nelson (Tennessee, USA), Hyder and Mike Marini (Ontario, Canada) all trail Mercado by over 30-points.

While at first glance it appears that the battle to watch will be between Mercado and MacAulay, if any of the bottom four drivers were to earn a win, they would leapfrog Darcy Ford, moving him into the fourth place and bumping Mercado out of the round.
