DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Holland College aims to strengthen its institutional relevance within the provincial, regional and national agriculture ecosystems, by designing & developing a comprehensive Agriculture Energy Auditing microcredential that will have broad reach, access & capacity building impact in this fundamentally important sector to the rural Canadian economy.
The Subject Matter Expert will work closely with our Curriculum Development Consultant as well as an advisory committee to develop this training program. The goal of this training is to equip individuals who have existing knowledge and skills in energy use and auditing with new knowledge and skills in energy use and auditing in an agriculture environment.
Core content elements to be considered within the curriculum development and instructional design process include:
- Introduction to agriculture (crops & livestock segments)
- Farm safety
- Energy audit procedures
- Electrical supply systems
- Sector-specific equipment
- Electrical energy sinks (lighting, heating, ventilation)
- Motors and pumps
- Heating equipment (propane/oil/electrical)
- Style & use of farm energy audit software & strategies for farm audit visit(s)
