Description: A Toronto native, Douglas H. Wood had a varied and interesting life. As a pilot for the Royal Canadian Armed Forces, he served in Canada, Korea, Tanzania, and Malaysia. His second career at Air Canada was as an instructor and editor involved with pilot training.
Douglas was also a talented artist. His work has been displayed at exhibitions in Ontario, Quebec, and Prince Edward Island, and now resides in private collections in Malaysia, San Francisco, Saskatoon, Montreal, Calgary, Ottawa, and Charlottetown.
Douglas passed away in 2002 and, in December 2013, his wife, Barbara, established an endowment to fund an award in his memory for a deserving, first-year, Graphic Design student.
Criteria: The award will be given to a student enrolled in first year of the Graphic Design program. The successful recipient will show talent as a graphic designer and vision for the industry. Students must apply for the award. Applications to include a completed Application Form. Applications will be reviewed by a Selection Committee appointed by the College Registrar.
