Bell Aliant Pioneer Volunteers

Description: The Scholarship Award of the Bell Aliant Pioneer Volunteers was established in 2006. It provides an annual scholarship award to a person with vision loss, living in Nova Scotia or Prince Edward Island, to assist with tuition costs while attending a post-secondary educational program.

Criteria: The candidate must be aged 25 years or under, have a visual acuity of 20/70 or less with correction and be a Canadian Citizen residing in Nova Scotia or Prince Edward Island. Candidates must be graduating from Grade 12 during the application year (or be a high school graduate) and registered in a post-secondary educational program. Candidates may also be presently employed but returning to an educational program. The candidate should have a reasonable level of achievement and a genuine need for financial assistance. To be considered for the Scholarship Award of the Bell Aliant Pioneer Volunteers, candidates must submit the following information: 1.Completed Application Form. 2.Two letters of reference: (1) educational letter of recommendation, and (2) personal or community letter of recommendation including contact information (address, telephone, fax and e-mail). 3.Letter of acceptance from post-secondary educational institution. 4.Documentation providing information about candidate’s visual acuity.
